FORMER broadcast journalist Gill Wilkey is keen to track down anyone with a story to tell about the passenger service at Tintern Station prior to its closure in 1959.

Gill is planning to put together an illustrated book, with any revenue donated to the Friends of Tintern Old Station to support their on-site projects.

"I want to collect the precious, personal reminiscences of people who used the service or worked on the trains or at the station itself," she explained.

"Maybe someone remembers missing their train when going to school or arriving at the station for the scout jamboree or watching trains coming and going while picnicking in the fields?

"Any old photographs would be particularly welcome. I'd also like to talk to people who worked there or had relatives who worked there."

If you have any anecdotes or old photographs for inclusion in the book call Gill on 07813 853616 or email: [email protected]">[email protected]
