SIX lots of workmen from water company Severn Trent have, to coin a phrase, been looking into a problem in Blakeney – but still hundreds of gallons of perfectly good drinking water are apparently leaking away.

David Mills, who runs Blakeney News, Food and Wine in High Street, reported the leak outside his shop six weeks ago.

He said: “I was told a valve has gone. The pipe supplies drinking water to the village.

“We’ve now had people out six times but nothing has been done and at the rate its coming out, thousands of gallons of perfectly good drinking water have been wasted.

“It’s probably the equivalent of the water rates of a good number of people in the village.

“It’s annoying because we are always being told how important it is to conserve water but this is just being allowed to go to waste.”

Severn Trent were asked for an explanation but none had been received when the Review went to press.
