TWO childhood friends turned colleagues here at the Review headed for the limelight on Sunday (June 10) with a stint in front of the cameras on popular BBC One show Bargain Hunt.

Carole Richards and Heather Wood, from Caldicot, have known each other since they were three years old and later went to school together. They have worked together as advertising executives for the Review for the last three years.

Heather said: “We spent the day at an antique and flea market in Oswestry with experts Charles Hanson and David Harper. It was a great day and a fantastic experience. I can’t wait to see it on television now.”

Colleagues and old school friends Heather Wood and Carole Richards spent the day in front of the cameras on Sunday (June 10) as they joined forces to try to beat the competition and antiques that would turn a profit as contestants on BBC One’s Bargain Hunt.

Heather said: “We both love Bargain Hunt and we like going around antique fairs. Carole saw they were looking for people so we decided to go for it. It was really good fun hunting for antiques and, while we can’t say what we found, I can say that we had an idea what we wanted before we got there and we managed to find it.

“It was a great atmosphere with plenty of banter. All the stall holders joined in and they all knew the experts.”

“I think we made a good team,” Carole added. “We’ve known each other for years – we went to school together at West End Infants School, St Mary’s Junior and then at Caldicot Comp and we have facing desks now at the Review. We didn’t argue, but when you work in a small team you have to get on well.

“It was a very entertaining day and very amusing and it was lovely to see what goes on behind the cameras on such a popular programme.”
