A game with a no-score draw written all over it, was how Blakeney manager John Hopson summed up this all-Forest clash. And that, he says, was real progress.
Hopson, in his first season as Blakeney's manager, has been searching for consistency.
He points to a heavy 8-1 defeat early in the season. The following week he selected exactly the same team against the same opponents – and won 3-1!
Much the same happened in the next 14 days. Blakeney lost one game 5-0 and they won the next 3-1.
"You can see what I mean. We need to find consistency and I'm sure we will," he says.
Encouraged by a young squad and the availability of several older and more experienced players, Hopson describes his new club as organised and well run.
"There is an excellent committee at Blakeney. I have lost a few players from last season but there are some good young footballers in the squad," he says.
Hopson sees this as a season of development and says he will be happy enough to end in mid-table. He is also hopeful of a County Cup run – his team starting well with a 4-1 victory over Smiths.
Saturday's league game was described as "scrappy".
"It had a no-score draw written all over it. Much of the play was in mid-field and there was not much to trouble either goalkeeper," he said.
But Hopson praised his young central midfielders, Ryan Smith and Dan Edmunds, describing both of them as very promising.
He also had a pat on the back for Craig Scott who snatched a deserved draw with a goal in the last minute of play.
