RECENTLY  Mark Harper MP has, without consulting his electorate, been writing of his backing (like a broken record) for the Prime Minister. On this occasion that the P.M has announced that the government is to roll back the environment levies.

He then describes Labour proposals to freeze energy prices as economically illiterate, and has a swipe at Baroness Royall for her support to accelerate decarbonising.

I just cannot understand how an MP like Mark Harper, who represents one of the most environmentally sensitive areas in Britain, can associate crude remarks with someone who played such a leading environmental role and was instrumental in bringing about the Independent Forestry Panel.

The IFP confirmed its views about the unique environment and green status of the Dean when they came to The Pludds in 2011.

Their objective was to exemplify our wildlife and extend our ancient forest cover, and promote its green economy that is unique to the Forest of Dean. Once this has been achieved, it can be modelled nationally and worldwide as the only way planet Earth can survive the destructive influence of mankind.

MP Mark writes and speaks as a consummate materialist albeit his ignorance concerning the environment is totally demeaning and politically self-destructive.

How can he represent an area like the Dean when he writes as one who is oblivious to climate change?

You only have to listen to the news to know about monster typhoons, landslides and the huge loss of lives caused by changes in our climate – not to mention dangerous increases in the acidity of the oceans.

Yet for Mark and the Prime Minister it matters little apart from making irresponsible political gestures.

Thankfully Baroness Royall is  brave enough to spell out the dangers and the costs in order to slow or hopefully check the almost irreversible effects of carbon proliferation on  water quality, air quality, wildlife, pollinating insects and future of generations.

Unfortunately, MP Mark and PM Dave they use their positions to appease the executives of large corporate and banking institutions, irrespective of many of these institutions continuing to pay themselves large annual bonuses from the receipts of being baled out by the tax-payers.
