A FOREST woman celebrated her 100th birthday with a card from the Queen on display last Friday (September 27).
Relatives from as far as Guernsey joined Marion Worner, who is a resident at Chaxhill nursing home, to throw her a party.
Her nephew, Michael Townsend, of Northwood Green, near Westbury, said: "It is remarkable my aunt has reached her 100th birthday. All her life she has been active and was driving well into her nineties until 2009 when she was diagnosed with Alzheimer's.
"My aunt lost her husband, who was a pilot officer on a Lancaster bomber that was shot down over France during the Second World War, eight months after they married. She never remarried and spent many years helping out on the family farm in Longhope where she was one of the first to breed and show Landrace pigs in the country. She was an active voice in the local village and for her 90th birthday she went by herself to New York on Concorde to stay with friends.
"We had a lovely party for her and she really enjoyed having all her family and carers around her."
