CHRISTCHURCH was the setting for a harvest supper recently that raised over £500 to support the church and the Gloucester Action for Refugees and Asylum Seekers group (GARAS).
Tony Williams, rector of Christchurch Forest of Dean with St Mary the Virgin, English Bicknor, said: “We had a great evening in the church, with a ploughman’s supper, apple pie, music and fund-raising.
“All the harvest gifts from Christchurch, St Mary’s English Bicknor and English Bicknor School were gathered together. The dried goods that had been donated were collected to support the Forest Foodbank, and the fresh goods were auctioned off by professional auctioneer Roger Garlick with the proceeds being given to GARAS to support their work in the county.”
Music was provided by Kate and Charles from the House of Bread. The Hot Pot Pottery also took part.
Tony added: “Most importantly, the evening provided good conversation, a chance to renew and make friendships and an opportunity to be thankful to God for his provision for us throughout the year.”
