CINDERFORD RFC has kicked off its seventh season in the National One League with two new defibrillators.

Health care technology experts Nihon Kuhden, Japan's leading manufacturer, developer and distributor of medical electronic equipment, made the donation.

Toni Treherne, of Nihon Kohden, presented with the club the life-saving equipment to improve its medical facilities.

Through an electrical current an automated external defibrillator (AED) will reset the heart's rhythm to a safe beat or restart it if the patient is experiencing cardiac arrest.

Club chairman, Rob Worgan said: "We are incredibly grateful for the latest technology AEDs that Nihon Kohden has give us and the level of care we now provide for our players, supporters and the many other bodies from the local community who use our facilities every week.

"As a major sports and social centre we have a duty of care, and recently it's become more evident that heart-related issues affect everyone and can in many circumstances go unnoticed, which is why it's important we are prepared."
