COALWAY Methodist Chapel has received a heartfelt donation – literally – from its steward whose mother died suddenly from a heart attack.

Julie Ellerslie, who lives at the chapel, bought a defibrillator from the inheritance her mum left in the hope she could help increase the survival rate.

She said: "My mum, Audrey Blake, died suddenly last year from a massive heart attack. She would come to chapel with me when she visited and loved the congregation – she always said they made her feel welcome.

"We have registered the defibrillator with the ambulance service, and training will be available from July 14 to all members of the church and community. We have quite a few defibrillators in the Forest but we do need to make sure that people feel comfortable having a go at using them."
