After reading the article in last week's Review, I feel I have to come to the defence of the lady parking attendant mentioned.
I live in Cinderford and we have had the attendant in force at the Co-op car park for quite some time. The customers are used to this now and acknowledge the fact that they are only able to park there for a certain amount of time.
Not only this, they have come to recognise her as a regular face at the car park, who has brightened up many visits to the store, with her friendly, happy and outgoing nature.
I also know that she has gone beyond her call of duty on many occasions, such as helping elderly people with their shopping bags and even comforting and sitting one lady down with a cup of tea, who had crashed her car into a bollard. To me, this is the kind of community spirit that our small towns need.
Mr Slater's angry comments only go to prove how conscientious she is at her job and highlights the problems that she has to deal with on a regular basis from irate drivers who are unaccustomed to change.
To conclude, I am sure if Mr Slater does have a mistress in Lydney, everyone in the Forest knows about it now!
