REDBROOK Angling Club have reported great success in their recently held taster sessions for children.

The club received sponsorship for the event from Redbrook Village Trust, providing funds that had been raised by the 'Live On The Wye' music festival.

The event was held at a local lake, and gave juniors the opportunity to get some free personal tuition from coach Nick Oakley. Tackle and bait were supplied by the club.

Despite poor and challenging weather conditions, the children, aged six and upwards, caught and released a selection of coarse fish, including gudgeon, roach, rudd, bream, common carp and mirror carp.

Organiser Ian Childs of the Redbrook Angling Club commented: "It was a great day out, and everyone caught fish and went home with a smile - as well as a Certificate of Merit, a goodie bag, and a fishing pole ready to go."

He added: "Big thanks to our coaches Nick and Lee, the Redbrook Village Trust, and everyone who turned out to make is a successful event."
