Great Oaks Hospice has received a funding boost to the tune of £10,000.
Mark Dawson, from Worrall Hill in Lydbrook, presented the cheque at Worrall Hill AFC to the Forest of Dean Hospice in memory of his brother Ian.
Mark said: “Ian was diagnosed with gall bladder cancer and only had it for a short time before he died in September 2014.
“He was in a hospice near Warwick and we wanted to raise money originally for a palliative care hospice, but after talking to Great Oaks, we decided to fundraise for them as they offer palliative care in people’s homes.”
Debbie Hutchinson, fundraiser at Great Oaks, said: “We’re very grateful to Mark and will use the money towards the refurbishment of one of the hospice’s sitting rooms.”
