A CLOSURE order has been made on a house in Coleford after a 24-year-old man was arrested there and charged with serious drug offences.
Police executed a search warrant in Bank Street last Friday (August 31) and the subseqent order turning it into a ‘no-go’ zone bars anyone except the legal occupant from entering the property for three months.
Liam Scully, from Bristol, appeared at Cheltenham Magistrates’ Court on Monday, September 3, charged with possession with intent to supply class A drugs heroin and cocaine, and possession of cocaine.
He was remanded in custody to appear at Gloucester Crown Court on Friday, October 5.
Police raided the property after concerns raised by residents about the supply of drugs in the town.
A Gloucestershire Police spokeswoman said: “Gloucestershire Constabulary has obtained a closure order preventing people other than the registered occupant now entering the property. The order will last for three months.
“Anyone with concerns about drug activity, or any other criminal activity, is advised to report them to their neighbourhood policing team.”
A request for a closure order has to be made to the magistrates’ court.
Grounds for approving it include whether there is likely to be “disorderly, offensive or criminal behaviour” at or connected to the premises”, or “serious nuisance to members of the public”.
Three months is the maximum time allowed for an order to be made shutting the house.
