ASDA Caldicot is spreading some Christmas cheer by donating £100 to the local Foodbank.

Representatives from the Caldicot Foodbank visited the store to collect the donation and engage with customers to discuss how they can help the local community.

Among the items donated was an assortment of non-perishable foods which then get passed on to those in need.

Community life champion at Asda Caldicot, Rebecca Hemming said: "With colder weather setting in and the festive season upon us, we hope the donation will be a welcome addition to the already fantastic help and support the foodbank provides within the local community."

David Flint, chairman of Caldicot Foodbank said: "We are incredibly grateful to Asda Caldicot for supporting us with this donation. With an increasing number of people falling on hard times and now using the foodbank, donations like this are extremely valued and critical in helping us continue our work and Asda's will go a long way."

Rebecca added: "Christmas is a special time and should be celebrated by everyone so we're doing our bit to make sure everyone does."
