FOOTBALL fanatic Richard Morgan broke his neck last year, but didn't need telling twice when doctors gave him the all-clear to play again — he was lacing up his boots in record time.

Richard, aged 19, of Harrison Way, Lydney, made his return to football exactly a year after the accident. He broke his neck in two places while playing for Lydney Town against Staunton and Corse.

"After the accident he was ordered to leave the field by the referee and even walked to the car which took him to hospital. It was a very serious injury but all the time all he thought about was playing again," his mother told the Review.

"He is a Spurs fan and football is really his life. It is all he thinks about so he was really pleased when the doctor gave him the all-clear last Wednesday."

After jumping for joy, the first thing Richard did was to contact his club.

"There was a game going for the Thirds and he jumped at the chance," said Mum.

All went well for Richard and he experienced no problems – his team even won!

He had a gentle introduction as linesman for the first half, playing up front in the second against a Westbury United side. The final score was a decisive 4-1.
