SPRING brings back many things to the Forest: the salmon appear in the rivers, the swallows appear overhead, and Lydbrook Players produce their annual spring production.

This year the theatre group. which is based in Lydbrook Memorial Hall, is rehearsing Curtain Up On Murder, by Bettine Manktelow, which they are staging over two nights, Friday and Saturday, May 9 and 10.

The play is described as: "A clever thriller with a surprise ending – murders and death abound."

The curtain goes up at 7.30 on both evenings, and tickets are available on the door, or in advance from Central Stores in Lydbrook.

Every year the Lydbrook Players – who have been in existence for 'over thirty years' – donate money to support a local worthy cause. This year the proceeds of the Spring play and the Christmas pantomime are to be used by Lydbrook Primary School. They plan to use the money to buy kitchen equipment for the children's cookery classes.
