FOREST bingo players have provided a playhouse for a group of pre-school children in Berry Hill.

Berry Hill Under- Fives playgroup is enjoying the playhouse which was paid for by bingo sessions run by The Kitcheners charity group.

The group runs bingo sessions once a month at Berry Hill Rugby Club, with the venue being donated free of charge.

A special fun day to officially open the playhouse was held at the playgroup on the Five Acres High School site with a visit from a Cole-ford fire engine among the attractions.

Margaret Bevan, who is playleader at the group, said: “We needed some new eq- uipment and we’d heard of this new ladies’ group that had been set up and they did a lot of fundraising for us.

“It was £600 for the playhouse, which the Kitcheners donated

“It would have taken us a while to raise that amount and to afford to be able to spend that amount of money in one go would have been difficult.

“The playhouse has been up for about a month and the children absolutely adore it,” she added.

“We are so grateful to the Kitcheners.”

The group is also grateful to parents Matt Foxwell and Dave Redwood who erected the playhouse.

Carol Smith of the Kitcheners said the name of the group came from the time they had all spent in the kitchen.

She said: “We were always helping out making teas for others, so we decided to start raising money ourselves.

“We are happy to help community groups in the area.

“We have also helped the Great Oaks Hospice and have been involved in events like the switching on of the Christmas lights.”

The next bingo session is this Saturday evening (April 18) at 7pm, so eyes down.
