A BURST water main caused something of a splash in Parkend last week.

The water tore up the road in the centre of the village, around 1,000 properties were cut off – some as far afield as Yorkley – cars were left to brave the waves and homeowners to mop up the mess.

But at least one of our readers managed to see the funny side of the burst pipe. Matt Powell took this photo of a van parked up by the flood waters. If the driver hadn't spotted a leak, he probably needs an eye test.
