FOREST of Dean Athletics Club member Jensen Coppen from Monmouth picked up his first county medal in the U11 Avon Cross Country Championships.

He gave it all he had from the start, reports a club spokesman, leading the Avon boys for part of the race.

However, two races in two days, combined with a cold bug, took its toll as he lost touch with the leaders in the closing stages to come home in bronze medal position.
