A FOREST jump class has received nearly £10,000 from the Awards for All National Lottery to buy a set of jumping boots.
Committee members of the White Lotus Jump applied for the grant to purchase kangoo jumps in various sizes. Its classes are non-profit making.
Kangoo jumps – which are designed to reduce the impact on joints of up to 80 per cent – is said to increase your work rate by 25 per cent.
Instructor Michelle Gardiner said: “I suffer with ankylosing spondylitis (a type of arthritis) and can’t run or skip but have found a huge increase in my fitness level from working out in the boots.
“The boots are a lot easier to use than people think. People aged as young as six can come and jump along to music for 45 minutes. Any profits we make will be used to maintain the boots.”
The classes run in Cinderford, Woolaston and Lydney. For more information call Michelle on 07790025743.
