COUNTRYSIDE champion Kate Humble will present awards to the Wye Valley's best farmers tomorrow (Thursday).

The winners of the Wye Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) farming awards will be revealed at the Monmouthshire Show.

The first prize is £500 and the Wye Valley AONB Farming Award trophy designed by Forest of Dean ironwork sculptor and blacksmith Steve Bluett.

AONB development officer Andrew Nixon said: "This year we wanted to continue to encourage those farmers who care for the landscape, their communities and who are operating successful enterprises in the midst of agricultural uncertainties and financial turbulence.

"We have had such success with the quality of entries for the awards."

The awards will be presented in the countryside arena between 1pm and 1.30pm.

Kate will also visit Wye Valley AONB youth rangers who will be demonstrating their skills in the Countryside Matters marquee.
