I heard it on the TV news

A councillor did say

That car parking was never free

And all would have to pay.

'It's paid for by the council tax,'

He said, words tumbled out,

If that's the case, we're paying twice,

Of that there is no doubt.

Why should we pay, and pay again?

It makes no sense to me.

So leave our parking costs alone

Let them remain quite 'free.'
