KERRY Smith of Coleford is preparing to strap herself to a Red Devil and jump from 13,000ft to raise money for the Forest of Dean Children's Opportunity Centre.
An anonymous donor purchased the tandem skydive opportunity at the centre's recent black tie ball and auction fundraiser and give it to Kerry, who works at the charity.
The jump will be in Nottingham on July 5 with a member of the Red Devils Parachute Regiment Freefall Team.
Kerry started as a volunteer at the Centre 12 years ago and has been a part of the team ever since. Her colleagues think she is "bonkers but brave" to take on the challenge and are encouraging people to dig deep in support of her and the centre.
Despite showing signs of nerves, Kerry is looking forward to it too, she says.
"This is the opportunity of a lifetime for me and I am very grateful for that, but it's for the children and the families we work with and they are what this is all about."
