THE successes achieved by three young martial arts students at a South Wales tournament have led their instructor to begin fundraising to enable them to compete in the Scottish Championships to be held in Glasgow.

Daniel Bergum and Roxanne Cole won bronze medals in the Cardiff tournament, which attracted 700 competitors. Matthew Gardiner, son of instructor Martin Gardiner, won a silver medal.

"They all did superbly well against some very difficult opponents," said Martin, who runs regular classes in Tae-Kwan-Do at the Whitecross Leisure Centre in Lydney.
