THE final three acts for the Monmouth Festival 2002 have been announced, completing the line-up for this year.

To open the festivities on the first Friday night July 26, up and coming band Squeezebox will be taking the stage in support of The Loco All Stars.

Squeezebox are a four piece band from the Cynon Valley formed in 1997. They won the South Wales Valleys Battle of the Bands in 1999 and after gigs further afield ended up recording at Loco studios in the Usk Valley.

Classical music fans will also get a great (or two) at this year's Festival with the completion of the line-up for the alternative events in St Mary's Church.

On Wednesday, July 31, the church will host the Celticana String Quartet.

Celticana is an exciting young and versatile all Welsh, all female quartet formed in 1998 by four musicians studying in London at the prestigious Royal College of Music and Guildhall School of Music and Drama.

The following night, Thursday, August 1, sees a recital from pianist Geoffrey Buckley. He spent 12 years as resident pianist at Aberystwyth University, and subsequently was head of keyboard studies at the College of Music and Drama in Cardiff, leaving in 1990 to concentrate on concert work.

He has appeared at the Wigmore Hall and the Purcess Room, London, and most major cities in the country as well as being a regular broadcaster.
