Despite Lydney starting well and enjoying most of the play for the first 20 minutes, Taverners took the lead after 30 minutes, making the most of a mistake in defence by Lydney.
The equalising home goal against Taverners came a couple of minutes later but then on the stroke of half time Taverners won a corner, Lydney defenders didn't pick up the challenge and Taverners went ahead.
There were apparently a few stern words at half time for the Lydney side from manager Pete Elliott and they came out again with all guns blazing.
Some good football saw them on top but a score was elusive.
However with just 10 minutes left Ross Scott got a shot in from the edge of the box and the game ended with a 2-2 draw.
Before the start of the match there was a one minute silence to honour those lost in the New York terror strike.
