MONEY from two pots helped light up Ruardean last Thursday.

For the first time the carnival and parish council pooled money together to put up a Christmas tree in the village, which the parish council chairman Ralph Cole switched on in front of members of the youth club.

Youth club leader, Lisa Robertson, said: "The tree looked beautiful and has given our village a new tradition. It was lovely having carols around the tree and the youth club put on some refreshments, we have a lovely community and it is a lovely gesture from the parish council and carnival."
