ROSS Tempest Cheerleaders, who have been training for just two years, are now ready to take the next step, thanks to a £250 grant from the local Sainsbury's store.
Head coach Rachael Boynton approached the store in the hope that her girls would be able to raise funds for costumes by packing shopping for customers.
She said: "We aim to make cheerleading accessible to all girls in the Herefordshire area, but unfortunately, the cost of entry fees and costumes is extremely high and having done lots of fundraising ourselves, we were still unable to fund everything.
"The support from a local business in this way has really made a big difference to us as a team, and we are all excited about going to our first competition."
The British Cheerleading Association, Western Classics competition, takes place on February 25 at Newport Leisure Centre.
