TWO Rivers are now prepared to take us to court over grass cutting and estate maintenance. I bought my house from the Forest of Dean District Council and I have lived on our estate for over 60 years. Myself and my neighbours always cut the strips of grass outside our properties, and I have told Two Rivers we don't want them to do this as we are capable of maintaining the grass outside of properties ourselves.
The piece of grass in the centre of the estate is not our responsibility.
Up until a few years ago myself, my late husband and a few neighbours always cut this grass, cleared around the kerbs and I feel we always did a very good job. We have repeatedly told Two Rivers we are prepared to continue this. However it seems they just want to rip us off to get every extra penny they can. We will stand by our decision not to pay this.
Some people are getting hassle from Two Rivers over this payment even though they do not have any grass outside their properties. One of my neighbours contacted Barry Thompson and explained this to him, and his response was that there are 24 properties in this area so the cost is spread among all of them. What a cheek!
We must all stick together over this issue and continue to fight this. Hopefully another protest march will be arranged to show our solidarity over this matter.
I also wish Two Rivers would bring their records up to date. Despite being told several times that my husband passed away over five years ago, I continue to receive letters for him.
