GIRL Guide Shannon Thomas, who works in Ross-on-Wye, has just returned from a life-changing trip to Vietnam.
Eighteen-year-old Shannon was one of only thirteen girls to make the trip, which was organised by the Girlguiding Midlands organisation. The group spent their time in schools teaching English and helping the teachers there to teach English.
Shannon said: “We were based in an area called Ha Long Bay, a small shanty town with a population of around 12,000. Everyone was really poor and had very little for themselves but they always made sure that we were well looked after and well fed.
“The project was a total culture shock and a life-changing experience and I can’t wait to go back to continue my work there at some time in the future.”
Shannon returned to news of a new job opportunity and joined the team at Calendar Lady Promotions in Ross-on-Wye shortly afterwards.
