I HAVE read the comments of Bob Garside, of Lydney, with great interest. The biggest problem is the lack of connections between Chepstow/Lydney and the Bristol trains at Severn Tunnel Junction.

I often have to travel to Salisbury. The biggest problem is that by changing trains at Severn Tunnel Junction there is usually a 50 minute wait for a stopping service from Cardiff to Taunton.

By changing at Newport the Chepstow/Lydney and Bristol/Portsmouth trains miss one another by five minutes in both directions. Common sense suggests that the Cardiff/ Portsmouth trains all made the stop at Severn Tunnel Junction and this would speed up the journey between Lydney/ Chepstow and Bristol by one hour. The last time I caught the 0927 train from Chepstow about 10 people made the connection with the Portsmouth train at Severn Tunnel Junction.

Severn Tunnel Junction is very handy for people like myself who do not wish to pay Severn Bridge tolls or parking in big cities and unfortunately BR and the privatised companies have been rather backward in realising this.

I would also like to suggest opening a new station at Elton Corner. This would be very handy for people from Monmouth, Coleford, Cinderford, Newnham and Westbury.
