LOCAL not-for-profit organisation iNEED sent a third container of aid to Syria last week.
The group, based in Caldicot, received donations from all over south Wales, the south west, Gloucestershire and Herefordshire.
The container was loaded with non-perishable food, toiletries, hygiene products, medical aid, bedding and clothes.
iNEED co-founder, Natasha Cadman, says: “People across the region, touched by the plight of Syrian refugees, have come together to help collect aid that allows those displaced by conflict to maintain normal life. Once again we had great support and couldn’t have achieved so much without it.
“We would like to thank Michelle Smith from Monmouthshire Housing Association for her support and for offering us the unit in Mamhilad to gather and load donations. Thanks to all the groups and individuals who helped, we will be sending 350 more food parcels to One Nation to add to a container they are sending.
“I would like to thank everyone that has helped ahead of time and on the day. As it was over the school holidays, we had help from girls as young as eight. We were so very pleased with their energy and enthusiasms on the day: they are our future."
iNEED would like to hear from supermarkets, chemists, manufacturers and food producers across the region who are able to donate products to help refugees here and in Syria. For information and to donate, visit www.refugeesiNEED.org.
