Despite the ludicrous police authority increase of 51.7 per cent on our council tax and for reasons best known only to the chief constable and his immediate entourage, Lydney ain't getting or likely to get a 51.7 per cent increase in police service. (I suspect that Highgrove House and Gatcombe Park's floral displays are intact!)
Perhaps, if when the gates of the park are locked and the aforementioned teenage low-life are inside, every Lydney resident who sees them should ring 999, report trespassers in the park, then the true extent of our problem may be realised.
The courts should then punish the previously mentioned low-life by awarding them 200 hours community service cleaning and making good Lydney and its surroundings, whilst wearing a fluorescent jacket advertising the fact that they are responsible for throwing Lydney's finest pansies into the ornamental park pond.
Failure to comply with community service could then result in two years military service on say the streets of Basra – no problem with uprooting pansies over there. At this stage the parents or whoever are responsible for the again mentioned low-life might miss their "little darlings."
I realise that I may have upset some "namby-pamby do-gooder" from the society of "Over Harrassment of teenage delinquents under the influence of illegal substances" but who cares?
Respect and quality of life must come first. – Alan Preest, Beaumont Place, Lydney
