THE annual Soudley duck race attracted 100 entrants on a slow course.

Organiser Larry Still said: "It was quite slow this year because the brook was low as we haven't had much rain.

"Last year they came down in about 10 minutes but this year it took about 25 minutes."

A team of "beaters" walked behind the race – which was split into three heats and a final – to ensure none of the ducks had got caught in the reeds.

"It was a very good day and the money will go to the Blakeney-Soudley pathway project."

The project secured lottery funding to make the ancient footpath between Soudley and Blakeney accessible.

Extra funding is needed to ensure that leaflets, maps and information boards can be produced to help walkers using the pathway.
