car hits tree

MOTORISTS driving through a Forest village were surprised to see an expensive sports car crashed into a tree at the side of the road.

The red-coloured Alfa Romeo Spider – which cost at least £60,000 new – had apparently careered across the road and collided with the tree, buckling the bonnet.

It was spotted wrapped in police tape at the side of the B4231, about 300 yards outside Bream coming from Coleford, last Thursday morning (April 5) and was still there around tea-time.

A Gloucestershire Police spokeswoman said the car hadn’t been stolen and the owner would be sorting recovery later, but was unable to provide any other details.

No doubt the repair bill will be a pretty penny.
