Lydbrook based charity, Lydcare, says it would like to counter rumours it was facing problems and assure people its transport scheme will continue to operate throughout the Forest.

The volunteer drivers are especially in demand for medical and hospital appointments, often travelling as far as Bristol and Birmingham.

"Journeys cost an affordable 45p per mile and hospital appointment travel costs are usually refundable to those in receipt of certain benefits," said a spokesman.

"Due to our transport coordinator's ill-health, Flo Smith of Joys Green is now acting coordinator and you can ring her on 860045 to arrange your journey.

"Meanwhile, we are looking for a new volunteer coordinator. If you think you could help or would like to volunteer as a driver please ring 01594 860143."
