LYDNEY motorcycle roadracer Dave Saxby sent warning shots across the bows of his fellow competitors at the recent Pembrey Race Circuit meeting.
In the hotly-contested Supersport 600 class of the NGRRC Championships rounds 1-4, he not only achieved two wins and a hard fought second place but was also named Man of the Meeting by the organisers.
In this class the top 15 are normally only separated by mere fractions of a second.
The Supersport class was dominated by Saxby (Kawasaki ZX6R) and Stroud rider Simon Knowlson (Yamaha R6). The pair are both members of Gloucester Supported Riders Race Club, and Knowlson finished with two seconds and one win in a race which saw Saxby lose grip on a sweeping left-hander.
He fought to push the Kawasaki up with his knee but to no avail, and rider and machine tumbled into the safety fence.
Saxby was fortunate to only break his wrist and sustain moderate damage to his machine.
The next outing for the race club riders is on May 12 at Keevil in Wiltshire – guaranteed to be another battle royal between Saxby and Knowlson.
