Saturday’s Forest of Dean Chrysanthemum Society Show in Lydney was the most colourful for some time according to organisers.

With a large range of colours and cultivars, show judge, Mr. John Bawden, congratulated the society on a first class show, with exhibits reaching a particularly high standard.

Bruce Reed, who won 10 first, four second and a third prize, among other accolades, said: “We had 84 pots of chrysanthemums on display. The range of colours and types was better than last year. Around 70 members of the public came through to view the displays.

“The winner of the best exhibit in show, receiving the National Chrysanthemum Society (NCS) silver medal, was Adrian Roberts, with a magnificent set of one white and two yellow Lundy chrysanthemums. It was a well deserved win.

Dave Hunt won the Best Fantasy category and Adrian Roberts won best Jap and Best Incurved.”

Best exhibit of reflexed, intermediates, singles, anemones, fantasies, and also the charm, was awarded to Bruce Reed, who also collected the ‘most points in show’ trophy. Bruce was also runner-up for the best exhibit in show, receiving the NCS bronze medal, with an ‘excellent’ set of Roy Cooplands. For his set of three TuTu Fantasies, he was awarded a certificate of merit.

Bruce added: “ We’d like to thank all our sponsors and supporters, who helped to make it another great show.”
