ONE of Lydney's most high profile buildings has begun generating its own energy and could even feed power into the National Grid.
Thousands of pounds of photovoltaic panels have been installed on the roof of Claremont House by Mike Green of DFL properties Ltd.
Depending on the levels of light and sunshine he says the panels could generate 50 or 60 per cent of the building's needs.
The electricity generated by the panels is fed directly into Claremont House and at times in high summer, could exceed the needs of the building and be fed back into the National Grid. If this happens, money will be paid back from the Grid.
You can see how much power the panels are generating on a web browser http://www.claremonthouse.biz">www.claremonthouse.biz
Mike Green will also be holding an open day at Claremont House on Saturday (November 5) from 10am to 4pm to show anyone interested how the system works.
