AN Italian restaurant announced its sudden closure with a parting shot on Facebook.

Sophia's on Market Place in Cinderford, closed its doors for the last time after two years of business on Saturday night after hosting a private party.

In a short frank comment on Friday night, the administrator's post said: "Well folks if you are one of the many who keep on saying I've been meaning to try Sophia's, better make it tonight as it's the last night Sophia's will be open to the public. We have a private party tomorrow night...then Sophia's will shut its doors for good...to all of you who love it and have over the last two years supported us...we thank you and wish you well, to the rest of you, up yours."

One Facebook user commented on the status and said: "Hope the owners are not intending on opening another business in the near future as I don't rate their customer service if that's his attitude." While another said: "That's a real shame, had a few great meals there, food was spot on!"

Owner Lawrence Campbell failed to respond to the Review's request for a comment at the time of press.
