A 56-YEAR-OLD man has been charged in connection with an alleged attempted robbery in Cinderford last Thursday (January 2).

Paul Pogue, of Meadow Road in Cinderford, was remanded in custody on Saturday by Cheltenham magistrates on charges of attempted robbery and having a firearm with intent to commit an offence at the town’s Co-op store on Dockham Road.

He will next appear at Gloucester Crown Court on January 24.

Police were called to the store shortly after 4.30pm on Thursday.

A Gloucestershire Police spokesperson said: “Officers recovered an air pistol from the scene.

“No-one was injured and nothing was stolen.”
