A 20-YEAR-OLD man is critical condition after sustaining serious injuries in a road traffic collision on the M48 westbound near to Rogiet last night.

The carriageway was closed for five hours from 11:15pm after the pedestrian was struck by a black Ford Focus.

The man, who is from the local area, is at the Royal Gwent Hospital.

At this time no arrests have been made, however officers are appealing for members of the public who may have been in the area at the time to come forward and call Gwent Police on 101 quoting log number 551 of May 11.
