A MAN was taken to hospital for treatment following a stabbing in Caldicot this week.

Police were called out to Newport Road yesterday afternoon (Thursday, August 18) with a report that an “assault” had taken place.

A spokesperson from Gwent Police confirmed that the victim had suffered stab wounds.

They said that enquires into the incident were “ongoing at this time”.

Locals reported online that the road was closed off for a time and Gwent Police tweeted advising motorists to “avoid the area where possible”.

“We had a call at around 1pm on Thursday 18 August reporting an assault in Newport Road, Caldicot”, a statement from Gwent Police said.

“A 26-year-old man attended the Grange University Hospital for treatment.

“Enquiries are ongoing and anyone with information, including CCTV or dashcam footage, can call 101 or send us a direct message on social media, quoting log reference 2200280007.
