MARIANNE Bowen produced her first show for Chepstow-based musical theatre society ChAOS.
But that wasn’t her only credit for the production of Jack and the Beanstalk – she also wrote it.
The show was staged at the Drill Hall in Chepstow and featured all the elements of panto including songs, dance and groan-out-loud jokes.
In the story, a village is terrorised by an evil giant (Jon Stow) and his sidekick Hench (Keith Weight) but the he hero Jack (Hazel Guppy) with his brother Simon (Emmie Light), their mum, the beautiful Dame Trotter (Nick Taylor) and Jacks best friend Jill (Jasmine Dixon) live in poverty and fear.
When the Giant and Hench decided to kidnap and ransom Princess Periwinkle (Bonny Gay), Jack and his friends, with the help of the Good Fairy (Maxi Stow), set out to rescue her from the giant’s castle.
The show also featured Ethan Cook as Baron Hardup, Isla Richards as Tic, Carla Brice as Tac, James Taylor as the king, Charlotte Bebbington as Harmony, Kathryn Regan as Goosey, Oryn Paders Ball as the gatekeeper and Michelle Bric and Jade Maber as Buttercup.
