A TOWN mayor handed out a warning to members of the public after some colourful language was used. Mayor of Caldicot Alan Davies was unamused after a comment in a public forum that Caldicot Town Council "should get up off its ****" in the way it deals with other bodies.

Cllr Davies said he fully backed the open session at the beginning of the town council's monthly meetings – but he insisted everyone should be treated "with respect".

He said: "Anyone who uses foul language will be asked to leave.

"If they do not go of their own accord I will be asking the police to remove them."

He initially threatened to only take points about items on the agenda – a strict interpretation of the council's rules – but then agreed to allow questions on any topic.
