A NEW society to promote the use of the Welsh language in south Monmouthshire has been formed.
The first event organised by Cymdeithas Gymraeg De Sir Fynwy (South Monmouthshire Welsh Society) is a fun bilingual quiz at St Arvans village hall on Friday (November 23) at 7pm.
Society spokeswoman Lynne Feakes said: "Our society's aims are to give us all a chance to use the language and to promote Welsh culture in the area, through informal and friendly meetings.
"We hope to arrange an event once a month – this quiz is just the start.
"We'll have speakers, musical evenings and social meetings.
"We're encouraging people to come to the quiz night and share ideas for future meetings, we're open to all suggestions."
