THE FOREST of Dean Morris Men were out in force on Easter Monday as they danced their way through the Forest.

The group took to various stops and performed their traditional routines at venues around the Forest.

As normal the men met at Newnham clock tower at 10.30am to kick-start the new dancing season. Next stop was at Beechenhurst Lodge, where dozens welcomed the dancers before they then skipped their way over to The Miners Arms at Whitecroft, to provide lunch-time entertainment for diners there. Afterwards they headed to The Rising Sun at Moseley Green to finish off their session.

Dave Evans, who is one of the dancers, said: "We had a great day. It's great to see that there were lots of people and that they still enjoy watching us even if we have been doing Morris dancing for more than 40 years.

"We have lots more events coming up including the upcoming one in May which is at May Hill. We will be joining other Gloucestershire Morris sides at 5.30am and, although this sounds ungodly, in the past there has been as many as 100 people who join us while the sun rises."
