THE FIRST-ever Longhope car show and family fun day has raised around £1,000 for charity.

The show, organised by Lee Haines and Natasha Beard of Longhope Motor Services, was a fund-raiser for the Great Western Air Ambulance and the James Hopkins Trust which helps children with life-limiting conditions and their families.

As well as a number of classic cars, there was music, a bouncy castle and even Star Wars troopers – or at least the Gloucestershire branch.

Natasha said: “It was a good turn out for a first time event and the support was overwhelming.

“Although we’re waiting for some figures to come in, it looks like we’ve raised just over £1,000.

“We couldn’t have done it without family and friends and we’d like to thank Pete, who donated some of the profits from the bar, and fundae sundae parties.

“There was a good turn out of local modified and classic cars and members of the CVC Register (Landrover enthusiasts) who come from all over the country.”

She also thanked the band, Mojo Rising, who travelled from Torquay as no local groups were available.

Plans are already underway to organise a similar event next year with more cars and, hopefully, motorcycles.
