Around 50 members of Extinction Rebellion groups from Gloucester, Stroud, Hereford and the Forest of Dean took part in a funeral procession and ‘die-in’ at Newent on Saturday, March 7.

The event was intended to highlight the ongoing threat of climate change to all life on the planet, and the need for the UK government and governments around the world to put proper action plans in place before it is too late.

Extinction Rebellion members carried a coffin to symbolise the death of ‘life on Earth’ and to mourn the unprecedented loss of species which has already taken place.

The sombre mood of those in the procession was accompanied by the dramatic presence of 12 local ‘Red Rebel Brigade’ members who have been seen on many Extinction Rebellion actions in the last year.

Group members stopped to talk to local shoppers during the procession to explain the action.
