A YOUNG mother's battle to replace an unsafe kitchen and bathroom has finally reached a turning point after the Review were set on the case to find out what the delay was.
Rachel Annis was at her wits end when she called the Review after Two Rivers had been ignoring her pleas to replace her kitchen and bathroom.
The 25-year-old has allegedly been battling with the not-for-profit charity for more than a year about when work would be carried out on replacing her kitchen and bathroom.
Rachel who lives on Meadow Road in Cinderford with her partner and 18-month-old son, said that when she moved into the property she was told that she would receive a new bathroom and kitchen.
However, 18 months on she still hasn't had the work done.
Rachel said: "I am so annoyed, I don't know what to do or where to go to get help. Before I moved into my current home, I was told by Two Rivers that they would be replacing my kitchen and bathroom as it needed desperately replacing. When I moved in I found that the work hadn't been carried out and was 'fobbed off' by Two Rivers that they wanted to ask me what my preferences were for décor before they started work.
"Since I have moved in, the condition of each room has deteriorated to the point where my kitchen cupboards are falling off and drawers keep collapsing.
"When I moved in, my son was a baby, but now he is older he is at the stage where he is starting to get around himself and I am frightened that something bad will happen to him if the problem isn't sorted.
"My dad's a builder and he has offered to help but it's not his job to do it. We have had the repairs maintenance team come in but they have made the problem worse and consequently left my home in a mess."
Roger Taylor, interim head of maintenance at Two Rivers, said: "We accept that Ms Annis has been waiting longer than we would have hoped to receive her replacement kitchen and bathroom and we apologise for this. We will be contacting her next week so that she can choose the designs and colours and to agree an earlier date for the work to take place."
Rachel added: "All I wanted was for Two Rivers to sort the problem out – for my son's sake more than anything."
